Mexican and Latin American Muralism

By the 1930s, the Latin Art has been widely influenced the European arts culture and primarily by the Spanish and Russian art movements that were rapidly developing after the industrial revolutions. However, after the 30s of the 20th century, the Latin American art became aware of new approaches and techniques - a combination of its own typical culture mixing it with different political or social factors.

This is how muralism developed and spread in South America - the movement was More

Mexico's Art Offerings

On a visit to Mexico I was struck by the amount of beautiful art objects that were available. Many were of low costs and were of materials that were easy to find. In particular I liked the tin art works. These were artworks made out of the thin metal of tin and puncuted and painted in order to create an image.

There are many colours and movements in the painting. It seems that the figures and backgrounds almost dances off the canvas. The colours are in light shades on a dark background, which goes far to explain why Latin American Art is used so frequently in American culture and media, through marketing More

Watercolour Can Be Great

Watercolour painting, in general, has a less than excellent reputation. It’s not hard to see why, is it? This may be all good and well, but it’s hardly progress. The point is that watercolour is an incredible thing which can be used More

Welcome to Arte Latino

Welcome to Arte Latino! I am an artist who was born and raised in Peru and has since moved to the sprawling metropolis of London to pursue and further my career and creativity. I have, since I moved here realised that there is actually quite a lot of interest in the Latino Art scene, however there doesn’t really seem to be many people actively encouraging it.

So that is what this website is all about, it will have profiles of my favourite artists, tips and tricks that I have picked up in the industry and various other ramblings that come to mind when I am feeling a little bit homesick.

Enjoy!
